Welcome to Josaphat Microwave Remote Sensing Laboratory (JMRSL) !

The Josaphat Microwave Remote Sensing Laboratory (JMRSL), based at Center for Environmental Remote Sensing (CEReS), Chiba University, Japan, is an internationally recognized research center dedicated to the advancement of microwave remote sensing science and technology. Founded and led by Prof. Josaphat Tetuko Sri Sumantyo, the laboratory specializes in the design, development, and application of advanced Synthetic Aperture Radar (SAR) systems, covering ground-based, airborne, unmanned aerial vehicle (UAV), and spaceborne platforms. JMRSL is renowned for pioneering work in circularly polarized synthetic aperture radar (CP-SAR), polarimetric SAR, interferometric SAR (InSAR), and tomography techniques, enabling highly accurate monitoring of Earthfs surface and atmosphere.

The laboratoryfs research spans a wide range of applications, including disaster management, environmental monitoring, precision agriculture, forestry, oceanography, urban development, and infrastructure health assessment. JMRSL has established a strong record of international collaboration, working with space agencies, universities, and research institutions worldwide to jointly develop satellite missions, sensor systems, and data analysis algorithms.

With its state-of-the-art facilities such as anechoic chambers, various radar prototypes, ground control stations, and advanced data processing systems, JMRSL provides a unique environment for innovation and education. The laboratory also trains the next generation of engineers and scientists through academic programs and hands-on projects, making significant contributions to global Earth observation and sustainable development.
