ABOUT THE SYMPOSIUM

On behalf of Center for Environmental Remote Sensing, Chiba University and the Organizing Committee, I am most delighted to invite you to attend The 13th CEReS International Symposium on Remote Sensing with special theme on "Disaster Monitoring and Mitigation in Asia". The Symposium will be held on 29 to 30 October 2007 at University Convention Hall (Keyaki Kaikan), Chiba University under the auspices of Center for Environmental Remote Sensing, Chiba University.

This Symposium focuses on a series of important subjects from sensor development to satellite data processing to monitor and mitigate the disaster; i) global or large area satellite data processing including synthetic aperture radar (SAR), ii) global land cover / land use mapping, iii) human impact on environment and sea ice, iv) land cover and climate change, v) regional environmental characteristics and global changes, vi) earth observation sensor development. The Symposium is highlighted by the invited presentations by experts on these subjects in two days. The poster presentations are planned to encourage wider discussions by active researchers of these fields.

This Symposium is an event focussed upon the most important fields related to science and technology in remote sensing and environment. Many researchers, faculty staffs and students at Chiba University - Nishi Chiba campus from all the world and discussed in detail how to develop the earth observation sensor and the usage of satellite data and sensor to monitor and mitigate the disaster, especially in Asian.

The Symposium will be held in Chiba University - Nishi Chiba campus at Chiba city, Japan where the door of Japan (Tokyo International Airport or Narita Airport) is located near and this city is very closed to Tokyo, the capital of Japan.

The Organizing Committee looks forward to welcoming you to The 13th CEReS International Symposium on Remote Sensing from 29 - 30 October 2007 and we are sure you will also enjoy sightseeing in Chiba, Tokyo and Yokohama where you can get a glimpse of remnants of the modern and ancient Japanese culture.
