The Chronicle & Mission of the CEReS
The Center for Environmental Remote Sensing (CEReS) restarted on April
2005 with the innovation of Chiba University. The former institution was
established on April 1995, as an institute for nationwide collaboration
of academic community on remote sensing. The CEReS is a successful successor
of the previous center, the remote sensing and research center which had
made a great contribution to the development of remote sensing.
The mission of the CEReS is to conduct research and remote sensing for
understanding environmental changes and the interactions between human
and the environment. This mission places the CEReS asJapan's leading institution
of remote sensing for environmental applications.
